A Safari Planned Differently
Planning a trip to Africa is one of those times when you really do not know what you do not know. That is where I come in.
I spend at least three weeks in Africa every year, revisiting favorite camps, seeing new properties, meeting with guides and local partners, and keeping up with how destinations are changing. That firsthand knowledge matters when you are deciding where to go, how long to stay, and which experiences are truly worth your time and money.
Lodges and camps I personally know
Many of the properties I recommend are places I have stayed myself, with guides, managers and teams I know personally.
Private wildlife conservancies
I favor private conservancies and reserves where there are fewer vehicles, exceptional guiding, and far more flexibility in how you spend your day.
The right camp, not just the fanciest most expensive camp
I love a beautiful lodge, but the accommodation is only one piece of a safari. The guides, wildlife, location, and people matter much more.
Great value for the experience
Safari pricing can be complicated. I look at what you are actually getting for the investment, including the guiding, location, privacy, activities and logistics. More expensive does not always mean better. Cheaper usually means poor value for your money
An itinerary that actually makes sense
Africa is enormous. A safari should not include many hours in transit, especially by car. I pay close attention to geography so the trip flows naturally.
Fewer moves, better experiences
Two nights is never enough for a great safari camp, especially when part of one day is spent getting there. I would rather give you time to settle in, and soak in the experience

Some clients want serious wildlife viewing in off the beaten path locations. Others want horseback riding, walking, biking, The itinerary should reflect how you want to experience Africa.
Small, personal and flexible and conservation that matters
I am drawn to camps that are genuinely connected to the land, wildlife and surrounding communities. Where you stay can directly support the long-term protection of the places you came to see. I favor locally owned and operated intimate camps.
